The Cambridge Croquet Club will go on as planned despite Cambridge Raceway’s application for a special liquor license for the area being refused by the Waipa Council District Licensing Committee.
The Cambridge Croquet Club was created to provide the Cambridge community with a free immersive and family inclusive entertainment space to enjoy during the summer months.
“Cambridge Raceway is proud to have been a part of Cambridge for 100 years and creating positive entertainment options to give back to the community is one of our top priorities as an organisation,” said CEO Dave Branch.
“We’re bitterly disappointed that the council have rejected our special licence request, but we’re not letting it affect a project that we’ve put so much time and effort into creating.”
“In fact we’re making the Cambridge Croquet Club even bigger, with the addition of two extra croquet pitches and a dedicated bar space overlooking the lawns which is within our current liquor licence area.”
While the croquet pitches are the centrepiece of the event you don’t need experience to try your hand at the game or if you’d rather there’s plenty of space to sit back and take in the atmosphere, enjoy the regular live DJ sets, watch a family friendly movie in the outdoor cinema or enjoy a cold Corona or glass of Mumm in the bar – two brands which have kindly supported the event.
As with all of the summer race meetings at Cambridge Raceway, there is absolutely no cost to come and have a game of Croquet or to take part in any of the other scheduled events. Cambridge Croquet Club upcoming dates & times:
