The first of seven Friday Nights Under The Lights race-meetings kicked off with a bang at Cambridge Raceway last week.
The newly branded event series has been designed to draw a new crowd to the venue with a Vivid Collective DJ between races, lighting features, dual sulky races and food truck style cuisine.
“We couldn’t have asked for a better start to the Friday Nights Under The Lights concept,” Dave Branch, CEO of Cambridge Raceway said.
“We had over 1300 people on-course many of which were local businesses enjoying after work drinks and we had our annual Waikato teachers’ group there too so there was a great vibe around the venue.”
In previous seasons Cambridge Raceway had been allocated Wednesday or Thursday night race meetings by the TAB, however this season they received the seven Friday meetings.
“It’s a real buzz for us to get these Friday night meetings so we wanted to make the most of them and create a regular event product for the Cambridge and wider Waikato community to enjoy,” said Branch.
There are six more Friday Nights Under The Lights meetings between now and July 2020 and Branch hoped the concept would continue to grow.
“We’re already taking bookings for the next event on October 18 and we’re looking forward to seeing the concept develop and grow throughout the racing season. For more info on the Friday Nights Under The Lights events, click here.
